Sal Khan, Founder of Khan Academy
From quitting work at a hedge fund business to being one of the wealthiest individuals in the world, Salman "Sal" Amin Khan created Khan Academy with the purpose of being able to provide anyone a system that breaks the repetitive cycle in education. In addition the is a free learning resource website that personalized for the use for all ages, inside and outside of school. In addition, Khan Academy is a tool that can be used for parents and teachers which allows them to see how their children are progressing as well as find ways that they could help them with the the teacher dashboard that's provided.
Khan is prime example of individuals who rose from poverty and thrive to gain success. His father left when he was only 18 months, but this too caused problems for his mother because she had to raise Kahn and his sister on her own, especially in the financial department. Despite that, he was able to go to the Institute of Technology in Massachusetts to pursue a bachelor's degree ,which helped him get out from being in poverty.
When he began tutoring his younger cousins in math, who would then encourage him to create Youtube videos on the subject for those who are struggling as well or find it easier learning at their own pace. This brought him the idea of creating an organization that could be easily accessible to those for free. I personally have use the site and it has helped me understand the subject a bit better; Math, specifically.
